Robin Abel agreed with my adage that “everyone needs a writer.” She needed a writer to help her tell the story of what happened to her daughter Maria Federici on February 22, 2004. The product of our work together is the book Out of Nowhere, released on June 9, 2010. It is available on-line and at Secret Garden Books in Ballard.

I am a writer in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. I have twenty-five years of experience in medical and technical writing, and a background in environmental consulting and science education. I write a weekly column for the Ballard News Tribune entitled At Large in Ballard. My blog of the same name is a regular feature of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer’s on-line edition.

Nine years ago, in 2004, I put out my shingle as a writer. Like the card on a community bulletin board, my shingle might read, no writing job too big, or too small. To give just a few examples my writing services are available to help document family history, draft advertisements, press releases or letters, or to author larger works. My services are available at an hourly rate or by assignment. Although I do write for publications and private clients, my favorite assignments are more personal, working with someone on my own community who needs a bit of help finding the right words to fit the need. Please contact me for additional information.

In addition this site provides links to the sites where I am a regular contributor, reader comments, information about specific services and upcoming events. While I may be at large, you can always reach me here at home.

Everyone needs a writer.
